In Iowa after an OWI (Operating While Intoxicated) charge if you want to get your license back, you have to get a substance abuse evaluation. Still Waters has several advantages.  Online assessments are the most convenient way to do your assessment because you can do it from the convenience of your own home or wherever you can get an internet connection.  After you complete the online assessment you meet with a Still Waters Counselor in person and we confidentially discuss, review and go over any questions from the assessment.  You should plan on this taking about 30-60 minutes.  The online assessment gives you an opportunity to talk to us

How other agencies do Assessments
  1. Schedule an appointment or go to a walk-in assessment.
  2. Go to their office. Fill out a stack of paperwork in a waiting room with who knows how many other people (hoping no one that know you sees you).  This normally takes on average 30-60 minutes.
  3. Wait.  Depending on how many other people show up for the walk-in assessments you may wait an additional 30-60 minutes, on busy days you many not even get seen the same day and have to come in a second time.
  4. Meet face-to-face and complete the assessment. About 60 minutes, sometimes longer.
Emergencies: If you are currently experiencing an emergency, crisis, or require immediate assistance, please dial 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
